Alpine Loop Scenic Byway: Autumn Loop Around Mount Timpanogos, Utah

Here’s a look at one of Utah’s most incredible scenic drives, the famous Alpine Loop Scenic Byway, just outside of Orem, Utah. This drive actually shows an entire loop, ending up at the starting point — Nunns Park, near Bridal Veil Fall just off of US 189 near Orem, Utah. The drive turns onto Alpine Loop Scenic Byway for the drive north, then west, heading in a counter-clockwise direction around Mount Timpanogos. Once we’re back into a populated area, I turned south on Canyon Road (formerly U-146), then took 1000 W and Geneva Road (U-114) to 800 N (U-52), which provided the return trip to US 189 and Provo Canyon, and Nunns Park.

I made this trip on October 1, 2019. To be honest, I think I was about 1-2 weeks early for the best of the fall colors in this area. Alpine Loop Scenic Byway passes through a huge aspen grove, and I’m sure the Autumn colors will get better by mid-October in this area.
