A Drive On Florida’s “Old Brick Road” – Dixie Highway

This drive takes you onto one of Florida’s oldest highways — a one-lane road paved with bricks, out in the middle of nowhere, between Daytona Beach and Jacksonville. The drive begins at the tiny town of Espanola and heads north. You’ll see that the original bricks are only visible for part of the drive — in other places, they are covered with sand. The “Old Brick Road” (a fragment of the Old Dixie Highway) ends at county road 204, which connects back to Interstate 95.

I made this trip in August-September 2019.
