Blue Ridge Parkway, Southbound: Fancy Gap, VA to Blowing Rock, NC

This video isn’t short, but neither is a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. This scenic, curvy road gives you a great idea of what it’s like to navigate through the Appalachian Mountains. Great scenery abounds along the Blue Ridge Parkway — although I must admit, I think some of the best scenery is further south. As for this video, the drive begins at Fancy Gap, Virginia, at the US 52 entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway. From there, it heads south, into North Carolina, all the way to the town of Blowing Rock, North Carolina, near Boone.

Since this was shot as a time-lapse, I’ve slowed it down as much as possible to allow for viewing the scenery, while keeping it from looking jerky. You can use Youtube’s gear icon to slow the video further, if you want to see more of a particular part of the road.

I made this trip in August-September 2019.
