This drive takes you from Aspen to Maroon Lake, home of the famous Maroon Bells mountains, then back to town. The lighting isn’t great, since I drove out at 6:30 a.m., which is important to do, if you want to catch a perfect reflection on the lake. Keep in mind, during summer, the road is closed to inbound vehicles from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (though you can exit at any time). Vehicle parking fee is $10, payable any time, either at the guard station or a self-pay station.
