Bottom to the Top: Prince to Grandview, West Virginia, through Beckley
This drive takes you just a short distance, as the crow flies, but if you don’t have wings, it’s a lengthy drive from the bottom of the New River Gorge to the top. The drive begins at the train station in Prince, West Virginia, and takes you into Beckley via WV 41, then around the new Beckley Bypass road to I-64, and then on to Grandview Park. From there, you can look directly down on Prince.

I made this trip in August-September 2017. Video shot with a Brinno TLC-200 Pro time-lapse camera mounted on my roof with a homemade magnetic case. I travel with two Brinno cameras – one facing forward, the other in reverse. Sometimes the reverse camera captures better video (fewer raindrops and bugs hit the rear-view lens).
